Promises Made, Promises Kept is our campaign slogan for good reason. We’ve delivered for our community by creating jobs, funding for education, as well as housing and business development opportunities for our state.
I’m proud to work with our other Grand Forks legislators to make sure our District, and our area of the state is not only represented but also heard in Bismarck.
Sen. Meyer provided numerous legislative wins for Grand Forks and North Dakota during his two terms in Bismarck. In this third legislative session, Meyer was elevated to Senate Appropriations where he was able to fund infrastructure projects for his community.
In 2023, Scott worked with Governor Burgum and legislative leaders as a sponsor of the biggest tax reform in North Dakota history, HB 1158. In addition to that tax policy, he sponsored legislation exempting Active-Duty military members from paying state income tax, SB 2293.
Scott has also worked to address behavioral health issues for our Veteran community with the passage of SB 2246 which created the state’s first Veterans Treatment Court docket.
During Scott’s first term, he was selected as a fellow to the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development through the Council of State Governments. In the 2019 Legislative Session, Scott was the primary sponsor for Senate Bill 2306 allowing military spouses to use their occupational license from another state in North Dakota to make sure they could find much needed employment.
This effort earned him recognition from the Department of Defense. He also cosponsored legislation exempting military retirement benefits from state income tax, the repeal of Sunday Blue Laws, and the establishment of the Energy Research Fund.
Scott is a consensus builder in the hallways of the capitol, and is known as a pro-business, pro-energy, and pro-family lawmaker.
